I had read an article a year ago about the competition between Black Friday websites and tonight did a quick search on Google for the keyword: Black Friday.? The search results were very surprising to me to the point I decided to write this little blurb about them.? On the first page of Google I see which sites know how to do their SEO:
Blackfriday.info? 2nd result
TheBlackFriday.com 4th result
BlackFriday.us 6th result
BlackFriday.name 7th results (YES, a .name domain is 7th for a competitive term out of 56 million + results)
BlackFriday2011.biz 9th result? (surprising because the Whois says it was registered August 17th, 2011)
BlackFriday.fm 13th result
BlackFriday2011.ws 15th result
So what I’m driving is where is BlackFriday.com?? I did a search on Google for? site:blackfriday.com? just to make sure it wasn’t deindexed.? BlackFriday.com is indexed, it just does not appear within the top results for the Black Friday keyword.? More surprising is that there is big money behind the BlackFriday.com site, yet somehow they seem to be lagging in the SEO department.? And I’m shocked that a .us, .name, .biz, and .ws all appear in the SERPs before the .com of a well funded site.? I’m sure BlackFriday.com gets a ton of type in traffic, but I’d be willing to wager that the top result in Google gets more traffic than the BlackFriday.com type in traffic.
Oh yeah, in case you’re wondering, it was the 53rd result in Google…? somebody needs to throw some of their budget into quality backlinks.
